“May your roots go down deep into the soil of God’s marvelous love, and may you be able to feel and understand, as all God’s children should, how long, how wide, how deep, and how high God’s love really is; and to experience this love for yourselves...”
Ephesians 3: 17-18
What is "the Kingdom"?
The Kingdom is St. James ministry for children who are infants through 5th graders.
In the Kingdom we believe...
- Kingdom kids are both students AND teachers.
- The Spirit is already at work in the lives of children. It is our job to watch for what God is doing and recognize it-help the children feel the Spirit as it brushes past.
- "Sunday School" needs to be FORMational and INFORMational...children will learn stories by experiencing them, learn to pray by praying, give by giving and worship by worshipping together.
Sunday Mornings in the Kingdom
After the children’s message, a regular fixture in our worship time, the kids get to “go to the Kingdom” where we learn core stories of the Bible using a variety of teaching styles and participate in the class rotations.
Our resources include a small movie theatre, a computer lab, science projects, art workshops, musical instruments and puppets to engage kids in understanding how Bible lessons apply to their lives today – essentially how their story is part of God’s story too.
Children ages infant through 3 years olds
- Cry room available in the main sanctuary during 9:00 worship
- Nursery available 15 minutes prior to both 9:00 and 10:45 worship
- Pagers available upon request
We strive to provide a sense of security so the children will know a God of faithfulness and patience.
Janet Kiddy is our childcare coordinator who supervises the nursery.
4 year olds through Fifth Graders
Kingdom Classes are the same during the 9:00 and 10:45 worship.
- We begin in the service with our families.
- After "Sharing Faith with the Children" all the Kingdom Kids gather in our worship room (also the movie theatre).
- After a short worship time together, we go to our rotation classes.
- Parents pick up their children in their rotation rooms (listed in bulletin and newsletter each week).
